The Net Return
In 1987, twin brothers Matt and his sibling, weary of chasing footballs, built a punting net in their Montclair, NJ backyard. This marked the birth of The Net Return's iconic design. Post-college, Matt pursued golf in Myrtle Beach, SC, while his sibling settled in Glen Rock, NJ. Despite distance, they continued perfecting the product, expanding it to cover various sports like golf, soccer, baseball, softball, and lacrosse. The multi-sport net became a staple in both families' backyards, catering to their children's diverse sporting endeavors.
Quality was paramount in their minds. They transitioned from PVC to steel frames, settling on lightweight tubular aluminum. Netting was also upgraded to heavyweight polyester for enhanced strength, durability, UV protection, and safety.
Extensive field testing with various users highlighted the need for rapid setup and breakdown. This feedback led to the Push Button "Quick Color Connect System," allowing for a Pro Series training net to be set up or broken down in under 5 minutes by a single individual. A duffle bag was later added for convenient transport and storage.
